The Porsche 968 was a front- engine vehicle, in fact their last before the introduction of the Cayenne in 2003. As the Porsche 968 was only produced for 4 years and at a time of recession in Britain there were only 12,000 plus cars built. Just four different Porsche 968 models:

• The Porsche 968 Coupe
• The Porsche 968 Sport
• The Porsche 968 Club Sport
• The Porsche 968 Cabriolet

In 1993 Porsche produced 14 Porsche 968 turbo S coupe specials with the 3.0L engine with turbo charger.

Many regard the Porsche 968 as the finest model of the 4 cylinder Porsche cars. The visual design created a look from the front that appeared similar to the 911 and from the rear end similar to the Porsche 928.

There are those that say the 4 cylinder Porsche does not deliver the same power as the 911, well don’t be fooled by this simple comparison because the Porsche 968 does produce 240bhp with some quality torque. The Porsche 968 is one of the finest handling front-engine cars in the world. Due to the rear mounted gearbox; its weight distribution and a marvellous driving position this really is a driver's car.

The Porsche 968 Club Sport is superb track car but with few creature comforts this is a raw beast.

The Porsche 968 Sport balances nicely the differences between the Porsche Coupe and the Porsche Club Sport to provide those extra comforts such as air con and leather.

A point to consider is that the Porsche 968 is probably the best value and cheapest to run of all the Porsches and it is a great car to drive.
